Troopers seek truckers' help on human trafficking

MANSFIELD - A young girl being used as a sex slave was rescued recently because a truck driver recognized the warning signs.

Even though the case happened in another state, an Ohio Highway Patrol trooper had given the trucker a brochure on human trafficking. He made the call to lead authorities to the girl.

Education is a big part of the patrol's plan to make fighting human trafficking — a form of modern-day slavery in which criminals profit from the control and exploitation of others — a top enforcement priority in 2016.
