Man pleads guilty to human trafficking charge

GREENSBURG – A man accused of offering cash in exchange for a sex act with a teenager has pleaded guilty to the lone felony charge on which he has been jailed since October.

Byron Caudill, 40, formerly of Milan, pleaded guilty to a charge of promotion of human trafficking of a minor, a Level 3 felony, in Decatur County Circuit Court Monday morning. Circuit Court Judge Tim Day will now take the plea under advisement ahead of a sentencing hearing scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 20.

In the State of Indiana, a Level 3 felony is punishable by up to 16 years in prison and an assessed fine of up to $10,000. The minimum sentence is three years in prison, according to the state’s criminal code.
