A year of Las Vegas sex trafficking: 'What the study shows is just appalling'

LAS VEGAS (KSNV News3LV) — A newly released study paints a picture of a violent and thriving sex trafficking industry in Las Vegas, with a majority of victims identified as children.
In a first-of-its kind study conducted in partnership with Metro Police and Arizona State University, researchers unveil a snapshot into one year of sex trafficking cases in Las Vegas.
A team of researchers identified 247 known victims in 2014, most of them younger than 18 years old.
In some circles, they’re called “throw-away children” — a harsh term for those caught in the underground world of sex trafficking.
