“We’re not interested in arresting someone because they’ve been victimized. We don’t want to further victimize those individuals.”
Instead, Grissom said, “We want to go after the people who created those victims,” as well as the customers of illicit sex.
Law enforcement is focusing on the sex traffickers and the johns buying the women, not the women and sometimes men who are being prostituted, prosecutors said.
Now, prosecutors are bringing the full force of the law down on the pimps and johns, Taylor said.
Grissom noted it is particularly offensive when the victim is younger than 18, including children as young as 11 and 12.
