Grand jury indicts Portland man on 55 sex-crime charges; $5.4 million bail set

A nearly $5.4 million bail has been set for a Portland man indicted on 55 sex-crime charges.

Thomas Walter Oliver, 35, pleaded not guilty Friday to the list of offenses that stretched more than one page on the daily court docket during his brief arraignment in Multnomah County Circuit Court.

The indictment followed an investigation into reports of sex crimes against six female victims -- both adults and juveniles, Portland police said.

"The victims include sex trafficking victims, domestic relationships and friends of the suspect," police said in a statement.
