McLennan County gets $1.5 million to fight human trafficking

WACO, Texas (KWTX) McLennan County’s Heart of Texas Human Trafficking Coalition will receive a grant of $1.5 million Wednesday to help combat human trafficking in Central Texas.

Wednesday afternoon, coalition members including representatives from the McLennan County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), the Waco Police Department, Communities in Schools for the Heart of Texas and Unbound, a nonprofit that fights human trafficking.

The Heart of Texas Human Trafficking Coalition (HOTHTC) is one of seven projects nationwide selected for the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) grant award for the development of human trafficking task forces.
