Minnesota woman wins $1 million in lawsuit against married man who 'raped and impregnated her when she was 14 then trafficked her from Laos'

A woman has been awarded $1 million after waging a lawsuit against the married older man who she says trafficked her from Laos when she was a teenager after luring her to a hotel room where he raped and impregnated her.
Panyia Vang was 14 when she says Thiawachu Prataya raped her in a hotel room in Vientiane, Laos' capital city in 2006.
She fell pregnant as a result and gave birth to their daughter in 2007 when she was 15.
She moved to the US with her family later that year on an asylum visa won by her father and says she was forced to participate in culturally traditional Hmong marriage with her rapist until he tossed her aside at the behest of his American wife.
