That’s all the tattoo on Summer Dickerson’s upper right thigh might have seemed to you or me or most anyone else.
But to those who have been sexually trafficked, it symbolizes so much more.
Called Birdman, the person who sold Dickerson branded her with this image as a physical reminder that he owned her. Her body was his property, to do as he wished. And his wasn’t the only marking.
